What does it take to reach an agreement without conflict? In our next BA Book Club session, we’ll reflect on key ideas from Getting to Yes by Roger Fisher and William Ury and consider how they apply to our work as business analysts. Whether you’ve read the book or are just curious about negotiation strategies, all are welcome to join the conversation.

June IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais Business Analysis Book Club

Description

How do you negotiate without giving in? In this BA Book Club session, we’ll explore Getting to Yes by Roger Fisher and William Ury—a guide to principled negotiation developed by the Harvard Negotiation Project. The book introduces a method for reaching mutually beneficial agreements in any kind of conflict by focusing on interests rather than positions, generating creative options, and relying on objective criteria.

As business analysts, we often find ourselves balancing competing needs and facilitating alignment. This discussion is a chance to reflect on negotiation techniques—skills that can elevate our stakeholder interactions.

Haven’t finished the book? No problem! Whether you’ve read one chapter or all of them, you're welcome to join, share your thoughts, and hear others' perspectives.
