Cybersecurity
As AI technologies advance deep fake capabilities, cyber threats are at an all-time high. An example is the 2024 case when an employee at Arup joined what looked like a perfectly normal video conference, but where real-time AI-generated deep fakes was convincing enough to believe that the CFO (a deep fake) was authorizing a series of transfers of $25 million USD before the fraud was discovered. This and other notable examples have revealed that some of the biggest risks come from within organizations themselves or supporting vendors, because of lack of awareness of how quickly the technology and resulting risks have evolved.
Join Dr. Peter Riddell in a participatory discussion of the BA’s role and responsibilities in Information Security Risk (ISR) amongst the backdrop of this ever-changing ISR environment.

Requirements Life Cycle Management
Study Group 2025-26
In the December 2025 session, we will focus on Requirements Life Cycle Management, the fifth chapter of the BABOK®.
The Requirements Life Cycle Management knowledge area describes the tasks that business analysts perform in order to manage and maintain requirements. The life cycle of requirements begins with the representation of a business need, continues through the development of a solution, and ends when a solution and the requirements that represent it are retired. These requirements will continue to provide value after implementation when they are managed properly.

You’ve collaborated with your stakeholders to identify their need of strategic or tactical importance (their business need). You’ve met with your stakeholders during workshops, in interviews and through observation sessions to identify and confirm their requirements necessary to address this business need. You’re pleased with the list of requirements you’ve documented. So now what? In the February 2025 session, we will focus on the Requirements Analysis and Design Definition knowledge area, the seventh chapter of the BABOK®.
