Being a business analyst can sure be tough sometimes. One day you may be preparing a business case to expose the merits of a new business transformation initiative to upper management… and the next day, you may find yourself facilitating a brainstorming session to elicit elusive requirements from a group of disgruntled stakeholders. To be effective in your role, you require a wide spectrum of fundamental skills and knowledge.

Purpose of the Study Group

The purpose of monthly study group sessions is to provide an opportunity for business analysts considering or preparing to write the ECBA™, CCBA ® or CBAP ® exam to meet with other like-minded individuals to review content in the BABOK ® v3. Each month we focus on a single chapter of the BABOK ® v3, sharing perspectives on the content and answering questions amongst the group. A “technique spotlight” studies a select group of techniques relevant to the knowledge area. A quiz is offered at the end of each session to reinforce and assess the material covered. The session is facilitated by a CBAP-certified business analyst.

Overview of the Session

In the April 2019 session, we will turn our focus to Underlying Competencies, the ninth chapter of the BABOK^® v3.

The Underlying Competencies chapter provides a description of the behaviours, characteristics, knowledge, and personal qualities that support the practice of business analysis.
