Chapter Events

The mission of IIBA® Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter is to provide professional resources to Business Analysts in the region, to promote professional standards and practices at the local level, and to engage those working in related professions to learn more.

We strive to help our community of practitioners develop their knowledge, advance their skills and add value to our day-to-day work. This, inturn, helps reinforce the value that business analysts bring to their role in organizations of all sizes and across a broad range of industries.

Chapter events are open to all, so please feel welcome to invite friends or colleagues to attend.

IIBA O-O offers a variety of opportunities for us to keep momentum in our professional development, network with fellow BAs and peers from allied fields, and exchange ideas among friends.

Our Monthly Meetings are the anchor in the annual professional development calendar, with the Chapter hosting guest speaker presentations from September through June - typically on the third Tuesday of the month. Of the ten Chapter meetings: eight are paid and two are free.

Breakfast Roundtables and Lunch & Learns emphasize knowledge-sharing and networking among peers. They are an excellent setting to present case studies from recent BA projects or demonstrate use of specific software in a BA Toolkit.

Our Skills™ Workshops and Masterclasses program offers affordable half- and one-day collaborative learning seminars designed for BAs, by BAs, and in partnership with local EEPs.

We are pleased to offer facilitated BABOK® Guide Study Groups to support practitioners prepare for CBAP® or CCBA® certification. Study groups typically run once per month, with each session covering one to two chapters of the BABOK® Guide (currently v2). Sessions are in-person, small-group meetings, facilitated by a Certified Business Analysis Professional™. They include in-depth discussions of scheduled chapters, case examples, as well as quizzes.

For CCBAs and CBAPs, monthly meetings contribute 1 CDU towards recertification. Professional development hours and CDUs for workshops and other learning activities are assessed on an event-by-event basis.

The Chapter is primarily funded by revenues from the professional development and networking activities that we stage throughout the year. The Chapter receives neither operational funding from IIBA nor a percentage of dues paid by its members. IIBA O-O also does not charge additional membership dues at the Chapter-level. There is no obligation to join IIBA to attend Chapter events, but IIBA members do receive certain benefits and discounts associated with their membership.
