Jenga anyone?

This month, the IIBA OO Chapter hosted our second skill-building workshop. Facilitated by experienced BAs and our Board members, Emily Tom and Nancy Beatson, we covered the most relevant of topics for BAs - the BA techniques!

While the BABOK® Guide provides 50 tried and true techniques to help us achieve our analysis goals, most of us tend to get comfortable with the same group of techniques and seldom venture into using others.

On the sunny and cold Saturday, we stepped out of our comfort zone, and spend a full day learning and practicing the following techniques in a fun and interactive setting:

1. Business Capability Analysis
2. Process Modelling
3. Functional Decomposition
4. Prototyping
5. Scope Modelling
6. Brainstorming
7. Business Cases
8. Data Dictionary
9. Decision Analysis
10. SWOT Analysis

From "two truths and lie" to Jenga, we worked together and competed against each other, all the while having lots of fun and learning from each other! What a day!

A special thanks to Algonquin Corporate Training for lending us their beautiful new facility in the heart of the market!

Here is a short video summarizing the day. Thank you Nathan Wong for putting this together for us!

Thank you everyone who participated and made it a great day!
