Message from the President

It is my great pleasure to officially welcome you to the start of our 2022/2023 programming year here at the IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais chapter. I hope everyone had a terrific summer and that you were able to find some time to spend with your family and friends. 

Summer is typically quiet  here in the chapter. It’s a time that the hard-working members of our leadership team can  refresh,  renew and prepare for the new 2022/2023 programming year. Before relaxing, we came together in mid-July for our annual Strategic Planning Day. We are investigating what it will take to successfully run some hybrid and in-person events this year. Though we haven’t quite figured out what’s all involved in moving away from a completely-virtual format, we’re excited at the possibility of seeing you in person again, while continuing to welcome and support our friends from afar.

I am extremely pleased to welcome back the returning members of our leadership team who are volunteering their time to support our chapter’s strategic priorities and to give back to our BA community. We start this fall with a few new faces on the leadership team: 

• Surani Peiris takes on the role of VP of Professional Development this fall. Surani holds a Certificate in Product Owner Analysis (CPOA), is an experienced business analyst and comes into the role after a year in a Deputy role on the team. 
• Helen Racette was appointed in the role of President-Elect. Helen is a CBAP-certified business analyst with many years of experience in business analysis and held a Deputy role on our leadership team in the past.

Our calendar of events is all set and we’re finalizing the speaker lineup for our monthly chapter meetings and workshops. Our monthly ECBA/ CCBA/ CBAP study group is back by popular demand. You’ll notice these events appearing soon on our event calendar so that you’ll be able to register.
