President’s Letter, September 2021

Message from the President

I hope this message finds you and your family and friends safe and healthy. Welcome back to the first month of our chapter’s new programming year.  I am excited to be the new president of the IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais chapter in this, our chapter’s 15th year.

As you’ll probably agree, the past 18 months have been unlike any other we have ever experienced and challenging in ways that we would never have expected.  Pandemic protocols in place, our chapter pivoted its programming from in-person to virtual events and didn’t miss a beat. Our Past President, Christina Abbott led us with strength, compassion, and understanding.

With our line-up of events this fall and winter, I look forward to seeing familiar faces and am excited to see many new faces attending.  If you’re new to our chapter, I encourage you to attend the monthly chapter meetings and study group sessions, the weekend workshops, and other special programming we have in store for you. For the next few months, these events are likely to remain virtual.  This fall we will investigate an approach to returning to in-person and hybrid events that is gradual, safe, and in line with public health guidelines.

Recently, we gathered at the Annual Presidents Dinner—a tradition started years ago to help bond the incoming President-Elect and current chapter President with the long line of Past-Presidents. I am thankful to be able to count on these experienced alumni for support and advice as I serve as the next President of the IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter.  It is this relationship that has advanced our chapter to where we are today. We continue to be a very active chapter with the support of our many volunteer board members and deputies—and you, our members and guests. We strive for leadership excellence as we focus on both strategic initiatives and operational functions. Along with my fellow board members, I am privileged to be able to lead such a wonderful chapter.

All the work we do allows us to engage with and support our business analysis community. Please join us as we start a new and exciting programming year.
