The following is a slate of candidates up for election in 2020:
Candidate for President-Elect - Nancy Beatson, CBAP
Nancy has held business analyst positions for nearly 15 years. She started her career in IT, working as an early morning Computer Operator while attending college. After graduation, she continued her IT career working as a programmer/analyst, then moving through the roles of database administrator, systems analyst, development manager, QA manager, product analyst, project manager and business analyst.
The skills Nancy has learned through studying for and passing the CBAP® exam in 2015 and through attending ECBA® / CCBA® / CBAP® study group sessions, skills workshops and monthly chapter meetings has helped her in countless ways to improve her BA skills and to network with other business analysts in the National Capital Region.
As VP Certification, Nancy provides value through delivery of the IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais Study Group. She supports those seeking ECBA®, CCBA® or CBAP® certification and recertification. She promotes IIBA certification and keep local BAs in the loop on what's new with the certification program.
Candidate for VP Marketing - Chinyere Ubani, MBA, CBAP
Chinyere has over 10 years of experience working in banking and the financial services industry, in different roles as a business analyst, financial analyst and a credit risk manager. She also has experience in marketing and business development working as a consultant for companies in financial and education sectors for 5 years. She bagged her MBA (Finance) in 2014 from Lagos Business School and holds an Advanced Diploma in Business and Applied Accounting from Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Chinyere recently passed her CBAP exam and is currently giving back by supporting other business analysts in their journey to achieve the CBAP certification. Currently the Deputy Marketing Outreach in the chapter, she loves to meet people and her passion is to create value by solving complex business problems. This in addition to her drive for excellence, drew her to IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter. She is a strategic thinker, with excellent analytical skills.
Incumbent for VP Communications - Magdalena Jaros
Magda has over 15 years of product/project management experience in the not-for-profit and web industries.
In her current position, Magda is responsible for creating and enhancing web products that aid the association she’s employed with in engaging its members in advocacy activities, marketing and delivering online education products and events, and providing a platform to self-manage professional development activities for designation holders.
Magda holds a business degree from Schulich School of Business, and has recently completed the Masters Certificate of Business Analysis at the Sprott School of Business, as she focusses her career on business analysis.
As the VP of Communications, Magda supports the great work the Board members are doing in building a strong Ottawa-Outaouais business analyst community, and promoting the role of BAs at large through various communication channels.
Incumbent for Secretary - J-P Thompson
J-P currently works in proposal management and development, working with clients on winning complex federal proposals. He also has over 13 years of experience working in Canada’s not-for-profit sector in a variety of roles. These roles have included project management, coordination, advocacy, research, and administration. All of this experience serves the IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter in good stead as the Board Secretary.
J-P entered Business Analysis as a second-career, and completed a certification in Business Analysis from Algonquin College Corporate Training in 2017. He has been putting into practice what he learned in the classroom, combined with his previous skills, in new professional environments with clients.
