Governance
The IIBA® Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter is incorporated as a non-profit organization under the Ontario Corporations Act (ONCA). The chapter was incorporated in 2006, after receiving approval from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to register the corporation using the name IIBA® Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter.
The IIBA® Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter is entirely volunteer-run. The organization's formal membership plays a key role in its governance, including electing the Board of Directors, amending its bylaws, and informing its strategic direction. Only IIBA® Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter members in good standing are eligible to vote at the Chapter's annual general meeting and hold office.
Our Chapter Bylaws
IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais is governed by its corporate bylaws. These were last revised and changed by a vote of the chapter membership at the Annual General Meeting in June 2021.
Policies and Standards
The Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter follows IIBA® policies and standards:
Board Composition & Rotation
The purpose of the Chapter is to promote the practice of business analysis, raise the profile of the business analyst role, and locally represent International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®). The Chapter is run by a Board of Directors who are elected by Chapter members at the Annual General Meeting.
The Board meets on a regular basis to not only strategize and take care of general business but also to plan events, discuss guest speakers, and coordinate conference participation.
Non-Board Volunteers
The Chapter is an entirely volunteer-run organization. In addition to the Board of Directors, the Executive Team includes several non-board volunteer positions that enable us to stage a diverse calendar of activities from September through June and manage the organization year-round. If you are interested in becoming more involved with the Chapter, please refer to the Become a Volunteer page for details and how to sign up.
