Today's organizational leaders are demanding stronger insights into their data. Business Intelligence is a concept that is growing not only in popularity and technical support but also in need as a vital tool to allow leaders make better decisions. Business analysts play a key role in helping stakeholders identify, document, validate and model business requirements necessary to help organizations shift from a traditional method of reporting to a more robust and richer BI method. Traditional methods of reporting fall short of providing management and operational leaders with the deep insights needed to make choices based on facts augmented with rich contextual information. "BI and the BA" provides the foundations needed to prepare business analysts for BI projects or to refresh the knowledge-base of seasoned analysts.

Event Details: 
About the presenter: Sean has been working in the field of information technology for 18 years, 12 as a Business Analyst. As IT Business Analyst for the Standards Council of Canada, a crown Corporation, he has played a lead role in a number of IT projects and is currently leading modernization efforts for two of SCCs core applications and systems. Sean is a certified specialist in SQL Server Business Intelligence and past Vice-President for Professional Development with the Ottawa-Outaouais chapter of the IIBA. As founder of the Smoothcube Business Analytics Corporation, Sean develops software applications and consults on business analysis. While not delving into the depths of technical requirements during the daytime, Sean explores the lakes and rivers of the Ottawa valley and beyond in a kayak, he gardens and follows hockey and football. He lives in Ottawa with his wife and three children.
