IIBA® Ottawa-Outaouais is pleased to host the full-day workshop, Ten Techniques in a Day, as part of the chapter's growing Skills Workshops and Masterclasses - a professional development series designed specifically for business analysts by business analysts.
Overview and Purpose
The Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) provides 50 tried and true techniques that are available to business analysts to help them achieve their analysis goals. While there is a varied assortment of techniques provided in the BABOK® Guide, we business analysts tend to get comfortable with the same group of techniques and seldom venture into using others.
This full-day workshop provides both theoretical and hands-on application of various BA techniques in a fun and interactive setting. After a short session of theory, the rest of the day will be spent on interactive exercises and games to help you gain exposure and reinforce your learning about the many techniques available to the business analyst.

- Gain exposure to various techniques in a fun and interactive way
- Practise some techniques that you may not be familiar with
- Develop a comfort level with various techniques
- Learn how to select appropriate of techniques for any situation

Each attendee at this workshop will be awarded 7.0 Professional Development hours towards certification or 7.0 Continuing Development Units towards recertification.

About the facilitators
Nancy Beatson, CBAP, is an accomplished business analyst with over 20 years of experience working in business and technical domains. For the past 15 years she has been honing her business analyst skills on simple and complex, multi-disciplinary projects that have helped her clients address their business needs and solve their problems. She thoroughly enjoys working with stakeholders and other business analysts to help them achieve success!
Emily Tom, CBAP, is the Past President of the IIBA Ottawa-Outaouais Chapter. As a consultant, she has been practicing business analysis for various private- and public-sector clients for over 15 years. She is passionate about business analysis and helps others learn and grow into the BA profession.
